HOST JACKIE TANTILLO - The Three C's-Compassionate, Calm and Caring with Guest Great Lake Freighter Captain Terry Viscount

Episode Summary

Born and raised in Cape Breton, Nova Scotia, Canada, Terry Viscount, shares stories of his childhood with his 6 siblings and his parents. As a captain on a very large (way larger than a football field) lake freighter, Terry was away months at a time but always called 'Ma' on a regular basis to catch up. Terry's worked hard and it's paid off. He's proud of his accomplishments. He's sailed down through the Gulf Coast, Mexico, Panama Canal, and California. He says, "for a kid from a small town, I got to see a lot of stuff that I never would have if I wasn't sailing"

Episode Notes

When Terry Viscount's parents met, his mother, Joan, was a cashier.  She never worked again till after all seven kids were out of the house. Due to necessity, she took a job helping the elderly.  That's what Joan was truly all about-she always put everyone else first before taking care of herself.  Terry credits his mom for her calm demeanor and compassion for others.  She saved her pennies wisely so she could always give a little something to others, especially around the holidays. One of her favorite things to do to relax was watch soap operas.

Terry is a captain of a laker/freighter/bulk carrying self unloader and travels through a series of locks east and west along and through the Great Lakes.
