Should Have Listened to My Mother Podcast

HOST JACKIE TANTILLO -Looking Back At S1E24. "As An Actor, Seeing Other Peoples' Stories Teaches You A Lot About Your Own" with Guest Actor Monette McGrath.

Episode Summary

My guest, Monette McGrath, (pronounced Muh-graw) didn't plan on becoming a professional actor until a college professor said "you need to study acting". She's worked on and off Broadway as well as regional theater, feature films and more. "Have I Taught You Everything I Know" by Diane Fay Skomars, McGrath's mother, is a "blueprint of who my mom is", says McGrath. "She wanted to leave something tangible behind for her daughter."

Episode Notes

"Have I Taught You Everything I Know", a book of daily entries, sheds light on who exactly McGrath's mom was/is and helps clarify her mom's personality and life choices and philosophies.  Monette and her mom were always two peas in a pod regardless of the complicated family history....(with 8 sets of parents and two divorces). "I had put my mom on a pedestal and later learned that no one is perfect, but I always knew that my mom loved me unconditionally."    "My mom thinks I'm brave just because I go on stage in front of lots of people and perform,  but she's really the brave one."

All the insight and life lessons that were passed down from McGraw's mother will be shared with McGraw's young daughter-lessons of love, obstacles and challenges and especially bravery.
