On this episode of SHLTMM, my guest Judy Wilkins Smith gives us a deep understanding of how her mother, Shirley, always made her feel safe and secure as a child. "She knew how to create magic" reflects my guest about her mum, regarding how her mum interacted with her two daughters. Judy was born and raised in South Africa and she clearly remembers, on a regular basis, her mother preparing fresh meals for those passing by, who were hungry and in desperate need. Judy Wilkins Smith is a Family Patterns Expert Systemic Coach and Trainer. She works in Systemic Work and Constellations as well as a trainer for Fortune 500 Executives, their teams, Heads of State, Legacy Families and anyone who wants to change their life.

Judy immediately told me that she's not one that doesn't love her mother. She and her mother are very close and she can't say enough great things about her experience as a child. Shirley created a wonderful environment to experience as a child. "Her parents were strict but loving. Judy says she knew what her boundaries were in terms of not just outward but inward. I never felt like it was so strict, I couldn't breathe. I knew what discipline looked like."
Shirley used to say "if you're going to do something, do it properly or don't bother." And Judy interprets that by saying, "there's a whole bunch of magic in doing something really, really well. Invest in yourself and it makes soul magic. Investing in yourself through that process, it makes soul magic."
Judy goes on to describe how when her mum was working in the garden, she put her two daughter's in a wheelbarrow when they were little girls. Shirley lined the wheelbarrow with a blanket and filled it with snacks, drinks, books and things to play with and it is to this day one of Judy's fondest memories. Again, Shirley always created magic.
Judy loves everything Disney, again because it's magical. And Judy suggests you "watch Encanto and Frozen because you are the magic, you are the imagineer, you are the one who can make it happen. You are the creator of what's possible."
As we were saying goodbye to one another, Judy professed, "mothers are amazing. "And every single gift your mother ever gave you was meant for you, because it grows you the way that you can be and only you can be, don't forget it. Even when the gift doesn't look great."
